Planning and Preparation
Dr. Crump and Dr. Ukaegbu begin each patient’s care with a thorough consultation. This is where we review your medical history and assess your overall jaw and bone health. We may need to do some 3D scans or X-rays, but these are quick and painless. All the information from your consultation helps us determine the best plan for your dental implants and, if needed, plan for any other tasks, such as extractions, on the day of the procedure.
What Happens on Surgery Day with Same-Day Dental Implants
The All-on-4 process can be completed with local anesthesia, but for some of our patients with dental anxiety, sedation is also an option. If you’re getting a full top-and-bottom arch system, it may take a few hours per arch, but you’ll leave the same day with a functional (but temporary) set of teeth. Most of our patients have no issues returning to their normal daily routines while their implant sites heal and their new permanent smile is created.
You’ll be given specific postoperative instructions that are very important to follow as your jaw and mouth heal. While this process isn’t as uncomfortable as you might think, that doesn’t mean you can skip out on good oral hygiene.
Installing Your New Custom Smile
After your implant sites heal, your prosthetic smile will be polished and finalized. You’ll then come back to the office for a quick appointment to replace your temporary teeth with your permanent ones. You’ll go over how to care for your new teeth, set up another follow-up appointment, and be on your way.
